How the checker works

You pick a date, a time and the type of visitor. The checker compares the date with the 72 fee days the City of Venice published for 2027, and the time with the hours of 08:30 to 16:30.

It then applies the exemption rules in force in 2026. They are marked provisional until the city publishes the 2027 rules; no date has been given yet.

If you enter a payment date, it shows 5 EUR or 10 EUR under the 2026 early-payment rule. The city has fixed a maximum of 10 EUR for 2027.

You can also enter a last day for a longer stay, the number of people and the date you plan to pay. The checker then lists every fee day, the total for your group and the last day for the early price, and can copy the result or put that deadline in your calendar.

Nothing you enter leaves your device. Your last choices are kept only in your browser.

Confirmed for 2027: the 72 days, the hours and the maximum of 10 EUR. Everything else on this page comes from the 2026 rules and is marked (provisional): the 5 and 10 EUR prices, the exemptions, the free zones and islands, the QR code process and the fine.

Questions

What is the Venice access fee 2027?
A charge for day visitors to the old city on 72 set days, from 26 March to 15 August 2027, 08:30 to 16:30.
How much is it?
The city has set a maximum of 10 EUR. In 2026 it cost 5 EUR if paid at least 4 days ahead and 10 EUR after that (provisional for 2027).
Where do I pay?
Book on cda.ve.it, the city’s official site, and avoid resellers that charge extra for the same QR code.
When can I book for 2027?
Not yet. The city will announce the booking opening in a later decision and has not given a date. In 2026, booking opened on 3 March, a month before the first fee day.
I sleep in a Venice hotel. Do I pay?
No. You pay the city tourist tax instead, but in 2026 you needed a free exemption QR code (provisional).
I sleep in Padua or Mestre?
Mestre is in the Municipality of Venice, so you are exempt (provisional). Padua is not, so you pay as a day visitor.
Do children pay?
No, under 14s are exempt. In 2026 they needed only an ID, no QR code (provisional).
Who is exempt?
In 2026: Veneto residents, people born in Venice, children under 14, students, workers, overnight guests, people with disability and a companion, relatives of residents, patients and more (provisional). Some need a QR code, some only an ID.
What is the fine?
25 to 150 EUR plus the 10 EUR fee, under the city’s access fee regulation as amended in December 2024 (provisional for 2027). Older sites quote the earlier 50 to 300 EUR.
Do cruise passengers pay?
If you go into the old city on a fee day, you pay like any day visitor (provisional). In 2026 the cruise landing area at Riva degli Schiavoni was free.
Murano, Burano, Lido?
In 2026 the lagoon islands were free, and so were Piazzale Roma, the station and Tronchetto if you did not enter the old city (provisional).
I arrive at 07:30. Am I free?
Not confirmed for 2027. The checker counts the day as a fee day to be safe. Check the city’s official FAQ before you rely on an early arrival.
Is my hotel booking enough as proof?
No. In 2026 the proof was the exemption QR code, not the booking confirmation (provisional). Your host may send you the code.
I stay several days. Which days do I register?
Only the fee days of your stay. Enter your first and last day above: the checker lists them.
We are a family. How much do we pay?
Each person aged 14 or over pays; children under 14 are free and in 2026 needed only an ID (provisional). Enter the numbers above to see the total.
I made a mistake in my booking. What now?
In 2026 you could cancel on cda.ve.it and book again, and lost codes could be found under Recover your reservation on cda.ve.it (provisional). Refunds: see the city page on refunds.
I stay in Padua or Treviso. Can I request an exemption?
No. Only stays in the Municipality of Venice count. Pay as a day visitor on fee days.
